Hi, I’m Jax Walter (they/them)

I’ve been a professional massage therapist since 2022. As someone who’s lived in large housing co-operatives or worked alongside people doing community organizing, I’ve witnessed the frequent amounts of burnout and fatigue that come from trying to survive and thrive in this world. Because of this, I was drawn to massage therapy as a way to offer tangible support to my community. When possible I offer sliding scale prices and free or donation-based massages at events.

I named my practice Bewith Bodywork because it echos the essence of how I view bodywork and the methods I employ. There is so much magic and potential that occurs just from being with someone, and hands on therapy is no different.

Our brains are reliant on our sense organs to transmit information and communicate what’s out there in the world. While most of our sense organs are near the brain on the head, we have our skin and more specifically our hands as an extension of our brains to sense and communicate as well.

Thus, by touching and sensing, I am not only receiving subtle information from my own brain, but I’m also tapping into my client’s neural network as well. According to LMT Cindy Williams, “…. Working with the body is a conversation.” A conversation between my neural network, my intuition, my senses and the client’s intuition, senses, and neural network. My touch goes beyond the surface level, and to me that is the art of “being with” in bodywork.
